Treatment Plan

Addressing Addiction offers confidential face to face therapy, delivered by an experienced, qualified and professionally registered therapist, who is highly experienced in dealing with specific addictions by listening, offering support and encouraging the motivation to change.

We use an eclectic range of techniques to address the underlying issues, all of which consider a person as ‘a whole’. Biological, psychological and social factors are introduced to enhance awareness, acceptance and action.

Whether the addiction began as a coping mechanism to deal with a trauma or whether it originated as a social pressure that escalated out of control, we can help.

We work on addressing entrenched behaviours associated with the addiction, which requires reflecting on core behaviours and finding safe alternatives and coping strategies to reverse these. Complex cognitive and behavioural work around issues will likely be difficult and painful to address, however our ethos is; we do not and will not ‘put a plaster on it’; we go deep into the core and treat the issue in its entirety. We treat everyone as individuals with unique issues and needs.

We initially complete an assessment, guided by the therapist to highlight core issues and needs. These will be re-visited and re-evaluated throughout the therapeutic process. If medication is deemed necessary, at any point, then referral to our consultant can be arranged. We believe that working closely with other professionals can support and enhance the chances of a long and successful recovery.
